The Prenoa Garden

Where nature and craft grow side by side

Tucked behind our Stamford workshop lies The Prenoa Garden — a quietly enchanting space that has wrapped itself around our lives and work. Long before we arrived, this garden had a story of its own; an established haven of winding paths, overgrown rose arches, and maple branches laced with dog roses, hawthorn, and wild blackberries.

I still remember the first time we found it — one late September Saturday — the air heavy with promise and the scent of damp earth. There was magic here. The kind that hums softly in the background of daily life, shaping ideas, feeding our creativity, and reminding us that beauty grows best when left to find its own rhythm.

Today, the garden has become a living companion to Prenoa’s work — a sanctuary that nourishes both body and soul. We are lucky enough to have a kitchen garden and greenhouse, where rows of vegetables, salad leaves, and soft fruits grow contentedly beneath the glass and sky.

In spring, the ornamental garden bursts to life, framed by neat box hedges, bay trees, and white tulips that sway like quiet poetry in the breeze. And beyond, at the far edge of the lawn, lies a wild corner where nature keeps her own rhythm — home to a family of hedgehogs and a sprawling secret walkway, a tunnel of lilac, blackthorn, and hazel that feels like something from an old English tale.

Over the seasons, the fruits, herbs, and hedgerows have nourished more than our tummies; they’ve fed our spirits. This place inspires every part of Prenoa — from the coins that celebrate native plants and animals, to the slow-made process of turning them into heirlooms. Its quiet cycles mirror the patina of time, the continuity of craft, and the enduring connection between people and place.
