A Brief Story Behind this Necklace

The British penny has always been much loved, often given as a lucky coin or a keepsake to attract good fortune. Finding a penny in the street or in auspicious circumstances is still favoured today and features in the song "See a penny, pick it up, all day long, you'll have good luck". This penny features Britannia sat on the throne with her shield and scepter. The British wren farthing was worth a quarter of a penny, making it a smaller coin, but equally as loved as the penny for its rare bird emblem. Both coins feature HM King George VI. Inspired by the early Victorian bicycle, the Penny Farthing, which had one large wheel (like a penny) and one small (like a farthing), Prenoa reimagines the idea of the these two coins side by side once again, in a shared purpose.
